Javier Conde Santos was born on the December 25, 1988, in Cáceres (Extremadura). His father, José Antonio Conde Corrales, native of the same city and his mother María Josefa Santos Dios was born in Vilanoba de Arousa, Pontevedra (Galicia).
Javier started his guitar apprenticeship at the age of four, under the guidance of his father (José Antonio Conde), a professional guitarist of prominence, esteemed in the flamenco world and disciple of the maestro, Andrés Batista.
The innate talent of Javier Conde encouraged his father to infuse into him more dedication and seriousness in his studies and at the age of 8, he introduced himself to the public, achieving marked success. Within a short time he was giving successful performances in his birth town, Cáceres, and subsequently making artistic appearances with such outstanding names as Manolo Sanlúcar, Víctor Monge "Serranito", Enrique de Melchor, Lebrijano, José Mercé, among others.
This very young flamenco concert guitarist, at his tender age, has already won several prizes in prestigious national competitions (1st prize Deputation of Jerez (2003); Atheneum of Córdoba (2002); Paco de Lucena (2002); and more) meriting the recognition as a "child prodigy" on the part of flamenco journalists and critics for his technical and interpretative faculties.
The artistic course of Javier Conde has been swift and solid, continuously showing an evolution of mastery and perfection of his repertoire which has received high praise in Spain and abroad, from which we select the following comments:
"Javier Conde, the young flamenco guitar prodigy, possesses surprising aplomb and seriousness on the stage for his age. His technical training in flamenco allows him to tackle the repertoire of the great masters, shaping an interpretative personality of his own in the execution of flamenco's toques."
Vicente Pozas (music critic)
"What most surprises about Javier Conde, as well as his great technique, is the important phrasing and artistic personality that emerge in his interpretations."
Norberto Torres (flamenco critic and guitarist)
"What a unanimous triumph of the young and virtuoso guitarist Javier Conde on winning the 2nd Nacional Competition of Flamenco Concert Guitar, organized by the Atheneum of Córdoba. It was his artistic maturity, his natural exhibition of exquisite virtuosity of the best classical school, along with the vivifiying contribution of his personal interpretation, that earnt him first prize."
Francisco Martínez (journalist)
"Javier Conde, Flamenco Guitar Prodigy".
Tony Tonks (Flamenco International Magazine, Great Britain)
"Javier Conde, in spite of his young age, possesses the difficult artistic aptitudes of taste, the great and dazzling technique and a strong interpretative personality. These qualities present him today not as an attractive promise but as an eloquent reality, that any professional or follower of this art can acknowledge and appreciate. The humility and wisdom of Javier Conde in admiring and performing the repertoire of the great masters, in my opinion, constitute one of the principal reasons for his swift and successful artistic trajectory and good training. This situates him nowadays as an excellent soloist and augurs that in the near future his name will be among the best and most famous concert flamenco guitarists."
Andrés Batista (concert guitarist, composer and maestro)
